Meet Our Board Members

Morey Walker

Board President

Mr. Walker is originally from Planview, Texas and attended the University of Texas with a degree in Civil Engineering. Here in Santa Fe, he is the owner of Walker Engineer that has been in business for over 27 years.  He has been married to Laurie for over 38 years and has two wonderful  children.  He loves playing tennis and camping.  Morey has been on the Youth Shelters and Family Services Board since 2017. 

Alisha Shelbourn

Board Vice-President

Alisha is a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. She has been a therapist for over twenty years, and also has a diverse background working with children, families, and individuals at varying stages of treatment and recovery. She has many years experience in the trauma recovery and addictions fields, as well as working with inmates in the corrections system. Alisha has worked in all areas of treatment including residential and outpatient programs. Her experience includes working with Tribes and Pueblos to incorporate treatment and prevention models, as well as the Department of Veterans Affairs to work on developing programming for
treatment of PTSD and addictions. She is an Art Therapist, utilizing the power of art to help individuals heal and express thru many different mediums. She employs various models and is trained in EMDR, DBT, Sex addiction treatment and Art Therapy. She currently owns Serenity
Wellness Center of Santa Fe, LLC, a private practice and intensive outpatient program focused on treating addictions and trauma.She is currently the program director for Project Aware Santa Fe, which is a program developed and designed by her to provide full behavioral health wrap around care for Native American Students at Santa Fe High and Capital High School in Santa Fe. This is a SAMHSA program that has been awarded for 5 years, until 2027. She is also currently an adjunct faculty at Southwestern College teaching in the Art Therapy and Counseling Department. She is an alumni of IAIA, Southwestern College and Edgewood
College in Madison, WI and the Institute of American Indian Arts.

Kenneth Romero

Treasurer

A native of Santa Fe, NM, Kenneth’s background includes 30+ years in the Financial Services Industry, with experience in several areas including audit/accounting, operations, small business & commercial lending and treasury services.  He obtained his Bachelor of Accountancy from The College of Santa Fe in 1989 and holds the designation of Certified Treasury Professional from the Association of Financial Professionals.  Actively involved in our community, Kenneth currently serves as a board member of Youth Shelters & Family Services and El Castillo.

Jim Atkinson

Secretary

Jim Atkinson has been a member of the board of Youth Shelters and Family Services since 2016, and its secretary since 2017. He is a (mostly) retired magazine journalist, author and film producer. Over his 40-odd years in media, he has been published in Texas Monthly, Esquire, GQ magazine, the New York Times, Town and Country and Travel and Leisure. He is the author of two books, one of which, Evidence of Love, was recently featured as a streaming series on Hulu titled, “Candy”. A second streaming series based on the book will be released on HBO in the spring of 2023. Atkinson is presently working on a novel. He became interested in youth homelessness through a neighbor, who had worked with YSFS. “I just thought that there’s no one more helpless than a homeless kid. I wanted to help.”

Lisa Bybee

Director

Santa Fe native, Lisa Bybee, Licensed NM Real Estate Sales Associate since 2005 & Property Management Services since 2013 has more than 25 years experience in all aspects of sales which has prepared her well to assist clients with their most important asset: Real Estate. Lisa’s background in hospitality, corporate sales, education, real estate, and property management give her a well-rounded and thoughtful approach to each transaction. Known for her straight-forward conversational style and problem solving skills, Lisa offers her clients a reliable, can-do approach to business. A world traveler, Lisa understands and values the unique cultural heritage of New Mexico and welcomes people from around the country and the world to Santa Fe. Lisa loves travel, hiking, road biking, and playing tennis. She is a member of the Board of Directors, Santa Fe Association of Realtors (SFAR) since 2018 and the newest recipient of Santa Fe Association of Realtors, Realtor of the Year Award, for 2021. Lisa also recently joined the Board of Directors for Youth Shelters & Family Services, a non profit organization assisting young adults with housing and life skills training in Santa Fe and Northern NM.
